In the foothills of Kulen Mountain, lies the Bos Thom Community Forest, 1100 acres of protected forest inhabited by the 14 elephants of Angkor. For 22 years, these elephants have given rides to visitors in the temples of the world heritage site. Today, they roam free in their natural habitat and are living testimony of a changing world.

In the mornings, help the elephants with breakfast and see them get ready for their day before heading into the forest together. Experiencing the elephants’ mornings is a great way to gain a better understanding of how to care for them. At noon, retire to base camp and enjoy a traditional meal at the same time as our large residents before bidding them adieu and heading  with the vintage jeep back via the countryside to Siem Reap.

Today you will leave Siem Reap and travel to Battambang. You will travel by private car/taxi through beautiful countryside, making one or two stops for a coffee break. Just outside Siem Reap, there's a small village with a school run by Han, a student herself! She teaches everything from English to dance to computer skills. Over 100 kids come to her classes every day. Your trip will help us support these kids and keep them in school.  We continue our way and the drive will take about 3-4 hours. You will choose to leave later in the morning with your private car. You will stay with a nice resort in Battambang with a beautiful swimming pool and a rustic palm garden. 

We will start our tour in the morning with a ride on the famous bamboo train. The bamboo train is a 2.5m x 4m raft-like device that is made from bamboo for local villagers to transport their goods. There is only one track used for both directions so if you see someone coming in the other direction the drivers will have to decide which train has the lightest load. The train with the lighter load or fewer passengers has to unload their goods and people and dismantle off the track to let the other train by.  We will bring you back to your hotel for relax and or swim in the pool. 

In the afternoon we will bring you to another highlight in Battambang. Phare Ponleu Selpak in Battambang offers engaging afternoon workshops that provide a unique cultural experience. You can delve into various artistic disciplines. Learn juggling, acrobatics, or other circus techniques from professional performers. These workshops offer a fantastic opportunity to connect with local culture, develop new skills, and support the Phare Ponleu Selpak's mission of empowering young people through arts education. : You'll have the opportunity to enjoy a spectacular Phare performance in the evening.

Explore the amazing architecture of Battambang and the surrounding countryside by bicycle. This tour also takes you on a wooden fishing boat along the river where you can observe the traditional way of life and the local people catching fish. After riding through the historic town, we will cycle to the countryside at a leisurely pace. We make a short stop at the adventurous wooden bridge and continue our way to a Muslim fishing village. There we board traditional wooden fishing boats and explore Battambang's iconic Sangke River. You can sit back, relax and watch the locals fishing. After the boat ride, we continue our way back to the city, stopping to visit an old wooden house, a statue made of old guns and the White Elephant Temple. It's all about having fun and the experience of wearing a real traditional Cambodian costume. One of the best souvenirs to take home is a photo with your family in a traditional Cambodian costume. A memory for life.

After lunch we drive through small villages and between rice fields in our tuktuk towards Phnom Sompov Mountain. The mountain is about 140 meters high and there are a total of 800 steps to reach the top. We will avoid climbing up the steps and take a motorbike to drive up the first part of the mountain to visit the temples, shrines, and killing caves used during the Khmer Rouge period. We will be able to look over all of Battambang and enjoy the vast and beautiful scenery. We will end our journey before sunset by walking down the mountain steps and visiting the “bat army” – thousands of bats flying out of their caves in the mountain side at dusk.

Today you will drive south on Highway 5 towards Kampong Chhnang. During the drive you can enjoy the simple but beautiful views of daily life outside the big cities. Around 90 kilometers before the capital, you will stop in Kampong Chhnang, the “port of pottery”. This province is also rich in fishing and agriculture, but most famous is the pottery that gives the province its name. You will visit a pottery where the traditional skills of making these beautiful vases and pots have been passed down from generation to generation, giving the region its justly proud history and tradition. After this fascinating experience, you will continue to  Farmhouse.

Your time at Smiling Gecko's Farm begins with a guided tour, showcasing the various projects that contribute to the farm's success. Gain valuable insights into their educational endeavors with a visit to the SGC HISF | EDUCATION CAMPUS and learn about the positive impact they're making. Following lunch, (not included) we'll continue our journey to Phnom Penh, the captivating capital of Cambodia. This vibrant city sits at the confluence of three mighty rivers: the Mekong, the Bassac, and the Tonle Sap. Once known as the "Gem of Indochina," Phnom Penh retains a unique charm. It seamlessly blends French colonial architecture and tree-lined boulevards with awe-inspiring Angkorian influences, creating a tranquil oasis amidst the modernity of other Asian capitals. Here, experience the warmth of renowned Cambodian hospitality and a captivating mix of Asian exotica.

This morning, a traditional Khmer cyclo (bicycle-powered tuk-tuk) will take you to the Royal Palace, where you can admire the ancient Khmer architecture.
You will then visit Wat Phnom, from which the name of Phnom Penh is derived. This pagoda is perched on a 35 metre high hill and is surrounded by trees where monkeys play in the shade. Later, take a tuk-tuk to the Genocide Museum at Tuol Sleng. This site will give you a glimpse into the country's troubled past and allow you to gain a better understanding of how far the wonderful people of this country have come.After lunch, immerse yourself in the world of Khun Khmer. You’ll not only learn about this ancient Khmer martial art but also have the opportunity to try it out firsthand at Kingdom Fight Gym. Sharing roots with Muay Thai, Muay Lao, and Lethwei, Kun Khmer is a dynamic and exciting discipline. Your professional instructor will guide you through the basics this afternoon.

Leaving the hustle and bustle of the capital behind us, you will drive towards Cambodia’s southern coast. You will pass by the Killing Fields. If you wish, we can make a stop here so you can visit the site. An audio tour is available to provide more information about the atrocities that took place. Please note that the entrance fee and audio tour are not included. After about 3 hours you will arrive at the colonial town of Kampot. Its  This beautiful riverside town is centred around the old French market, which is now converted into a wonderful array of small shops and restaurants. As you sit in a riverside café and relax, only a little imagination is needed to picture life the way it used to be. After a long day you will be able to relax in the comfort of your hotel and re-energize yourself.

This morning, embark on a unique and impactful experience at the Trapeang Sankea community. Here, a dedicated project works tirelessly to restore the vital mangrove ecosystem along the Kampot coastline. Join their efforts by planting a baby mangrove sapling provided by us. As you navigate the lush mangroves by boat, witness firsthand the importance of this ecosystem and the positive impact of this project. A short walk along a designated trail will further immerse you in the wonders of the mangroves.

After your rewarding contribution to conservation, we'll take a scenic drive along charming backroads to the breathtaking Secret Lake. Nestled amidst stunning mountain views, this hidden gem provides the perfect backdrop for a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, we'll journey to a renowned Kampot pepper plantation. Here, discover the unique geographical and climatic factors that contribute to growing the world's most prized pepper. Learn how red, white, and black peppercorns are cultivated and processed. Gain insights into the Cambodian education system with a visit to the on-site school. You'll have the delightful opportunity to interact with the students, perhaps share a mini-lesson about your home country or teach them some new English words. Witnessing the smiles on their faces will be a truly rewarding experience. 

Today we have a wonderful family adventure planned. Between Kep and Kampot, we will be rock climbing and abseiling. As we ascend and descend, we will be amazed by the stunning views. Using ropes and cables, we will explore the caves from the inside. This tour is suitable for both beginner and experienced climbers. In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore Kampot further at your own pace.

Unwind after your action-packed 14 days with a relaxing journey to Cambodia's coast. We'll transport you by private car to Sihanoukville, where you'll board a ferry to the idyllic island of Koh Rong Samloem. This tropical paradise, with its pristine sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters, offers the perfect escape. While the island is developing, it still retains its charm and is a haven for snorkeling, diving, and simply soaking up the sun.
